Dr. Gregg A. Porter, enters his 9th season as founder and Music Director of the Fox River Youth
Symphony. During Dr. Porter’s tenure, the AYSO has participated in Music Festivals in St. Louis on two
occasions, receiving first place in all categories. In 2007, the orchestra
undertook a 10 day Concert Tour of Spain, and in the Summer of 2009, the
orchestra enjoyed a 10 day Concert Tour of Italy. This past season, the
Orchestra participated in the International Music Festival in Toronto, where
they finished in first place.
Dr. Porter has conducted Orchestras and Wind ensembles for over twenty five
years on the elementary, secondary and college levels. During this time, his
ensembles have appeared at the Missouri Music Educators Convention, the
Illinois Music Educators Convention, the Mid-West Band and Orchestra Clinic and
the Music Educators National Convention.
Dr. Porter appears annually as a guest conductor / clinician / adjudicator
throughout the United States and Canada. The winner of the 1995 National School
Orchestra Association Composition Contest with Dorchester Street Songs, Dr.
Porter has numerous pieces in publication with Kjos Music Company and Schorer
Music Publications.
