Aurora Youth Symphony Music Director
Dr. Gregg A. Porter has taught Orchestra and Wind Ensemble for over twenty years on the elementary, secondary, college and youth orchestra levels. His ensembles have appeared at the Illinois Music Educators Convention, the Missouri Music Educators Convention, Mid-West International Band and Orchestra Clinic and the Music Educators National Convention. In addition, Dr. Porter’s youth orchestras have toured Europe on two occasions, as well as receiving top honors at the Toronto International Music Festival and the Montreal International Music Festival. During his tenure as Music Director of the West Suburban Youth Orchestra (1985-1994), the orchestra presented a live broadcast at the Vienna Radio Network during one of their tours.
Dr. Porter has appeared as a guest clinician / adjudicator throughout the country. The winner of the 1995 National School Orchestra Association Composition Contest, with Dorchester Street Songs, Dr. Porter currently has over 15 pieces in publication, by Kjos Music Company and Schorer Music Publications.
